Happy Thanksgiving!-Thu. Nov.27,08-Azumi
I visited to Carolyn who is my converstation partner to celebrate Thanksgiving at two p.m. on Thursday Nov. 27, 08. I thought it is a special day for Americans because it is the day that they look back their history. She invited eight people who are my family, Brendan who is her younger son, and her three friends. I brought a dish of Japanese rolling sushi as an appetizer and a bottle of wine that I bought at Canada. They enjoyed my dish so I appreciated that. Brendan has lived in Korea at the military service and was familiar with eating Asian food. So, he also really enjoyed my dish. When we moved to a main table to have Thanksgiving dinner, my kids gave them paper cranes as name folders. They liked them and asked me what they were. I explained that they are named “Orizurus” and made of origamis. Japanese usually do thousand of orizuru for a pacient to get better. They looked at them interestingly. Before having dinner, we prayed for the Gods to be thankful to hold our hands together. I thought it was a great habit that Americans thank for everything once a year. It made me holy. I thanked for everybody around me then. She served turky with cranberry sauce, mashed potato, sweet potato, beans, pumpkin pie, apple pie and pecan pie. All of them were very delicious. When we talked together, Magaret asked me what the best thing to live another countries was. I told her that it is great to know another culture, habit, food and people and it makes me rich in spiritual. She agreed with me even though she has never lived another countries. We had a really good time. I went home to thank to invite my family for Carolyne again.
